Biography

From a circus family to his own ring

Born Karl Heinrich Malter in Berlin on 9 April 1938, Harry Malter grew up in a circus family surrounded by animals. After the years of the Tiroler Circus, he founded Circus Piste in 1968 and toured the Benelux with a large international company.

A permanent home near Ghent

Circus Piste’s final tour ended in Antwerp in 1978. Harry Malter then settled in Heusden with several animals and developed a permanent activity that led to the opening of the family park bearing his name in 1992.

A legacy passed on

Over the decades, he brought together playgrounds, small rides and an animal park on one estate. He died on 26 October 2019 at the age of 81, leaving a project continued by his daughter Sarah and the Malter family.
