Founder of a park devoted to storks

Jean-Pierre Willmann opened Cigoland in 1974 after imagining a family leisure park tied to white-stork conservation. Working with ornithologist Alfred Schirrer and the CNRS, he joined a breeding and release programme that made a lasting contribution to the species’ return in Alsace.
