Biography

The name linked to Bagatelle’s beginnings

Henri Parent is associated with the creation of Parc Bagatelle, which opened in 1955 on the Côte d’Opale. Available public sources describe the site’s origin as a family story: after the Second World War, the Parent couple bought land between Berck and Le Touquet, in an area still marked by the post-war period and restoration work.

Bagatelle did not begin as a large modern amusement park. The estate developed from a hospitality and leisure setting, with games, miniature golf, eccentric bicycles and an early interest in presenting animals to children. This gradual evolution helps explain Bagatelle’s special place in French leisure history: a family park that became, through successive Parent generations, one of the long-standing landmarks of the Côte d’Opale.
