Ferdinand Piëch
The vision behind Autostadt
Ferdinand Piëch championed the idea of a Volkswagen presence at the Group headquarters in Wolfsburg. That vision became Autostadt for Expo 2000, bringing vehicle delivery, automotive culture, architecture and public dialogue together in one place.
An engineer and executive, he became CEO of Volkswagen AG in 1993 after shaping Audi’s technical development. His career left a lasting mark on the Group’s brands, products and industrial ambitions.
A legacy visible in Wolfsburg
Autostadt explicitly attributes its founding vision to Ferdinand Piëch. The park remains one of the clearest expressions of his determination to connect technology, quality, automotive heritage and the visitor experience.
