Dotto Trains
Dotto S.r.l.
Road trains that began as a personal project
The history of Dotto Trains begins in 1962, when Italian inventor Ivo Dotto built his first engine-powered train on rails as a hobby. The attention it attracted from children gradually turned that handmade creation into a specialised business.
From rails to a road-going train
In 1966, Dotto freed the small train from its track by creating the first model on tyres. A version intended for adult transport followed in 1972, opening new uses in amusement parks, tourist destinations and towns. The manufacturer then expanded beyond Italy with combinations of locomotives and passenger carriages.
A broader and increasingly electric range
Dotto introduced its first electric train in 1995 and later developed classic, modern and playful product lines. The Funny Trains created for amusement parks use bright shapes and cartoon-like faces. The brand remains closely associated with shared sightseeing journeys, visitor transport and instantly recognisable road trains.
