River Splash, the 2006 fire and the return of its scenery
A notable technical episode in the story of Bagatelle’s historic water ride.
Before the 2006 season, River Splatch’s artificial cave caught fire. The ride later reopened as Ch’Plouf, before receiving a rebuilt scenic structure a few years later.

River Splash is one of Bagatelle’s historic water rides. Opened in 1976, the log flume belongs to the park’s modernization in the 1970s, when Bagatelle expanded its offer with more memorable and lasting installations.
Before the 2006 season opened, the ride’s artificial cave caught fire. It returned to service on 18 June 2006 without that scenery, under a new identity: Ch’Plouf. The episode created a visible break in the ride’s life without removing it from the park for long.
What followed was a gradual reconstruction. In 2009, a new sprayed-concrete cave topped with a lighthouse was built. The ride therefore kept its role as a major water classic while carrying the trace of an important scenery change.
