Le Petit Train, Bagatelle’s rolling memory

In a park best known for family rides and classics, Le Petit Train plays a different role. It does not tell Bagatelle’s story through speed, but through slow movement, a ride across the estate and the pleasure of watching the paths unfold without rushing.

The park’s history links the small train to Bagatelle’s early decades. In the 1970s, as the site became a permanent amusement park, a train circled the estate with a real steam locomotive and passenger cars. That presence gave the park a strolling rhythm alongside its rides.

The equipment changed over time. Sources focused on Soquet associate a Petit train de Baggy with Parc Bagatelle in 1989, which helps explain a later stage in this lineage. It is therefore not only a calm ride: it also accompanies the park’s generational changes.

Today, Le Petit Train remains a simple way to connect spaces, ages and memories. It does not need spectacle to matter in the park’s history: it shows that Bagatelle was also built on strolling rides able to give lasting identity to a family destination.
