A neighbourhood park beside the Belt Parkway

Adventurer’s Park occupies a compact site in Gravesend, southern Brooklyn, between Shore Parkway and the Belt Parkway. Its Ferris wheel, bright signs and dense weave of small rides form a permanent midway landscape within the city.

The park works on a family scale: there is no general admission charge and the attractions use tickets. Short paths bring together children’s rides, skill games, snack stands, miniature golf and two kart circuits inside grounds that can be crossed in only a few minutes.

Classics at a child’s scale

The Ferris wheel rises above a collection where the carousel, tea cups, little planes, train and pirate ship sit beside more individual silhouettes such as the bears of Bear Affair and the dragons of Peter/Paul. TL*3 Coaster carries its caterpillar train around a family loop in the heart of the park.

Balloon, basketball and dart games preserve the character of a New York midway. Nearby, Fun Slide, Wet Boats and Frog Hopper create a sequence of colour, bells and motion that stands in vivid contrast to the traffic beyond the fence.

From Nellie Bly to Adventurer’s

The family concession opened on municipal parkland in 1966 as Nellie Bly Park, named for the pioneering journalist. After operations stopped in 2005, new management renovated the grounds and relaunched them in 2007 under the present name. That transformed continuity defines the place: a small urban amusement park rooted in several generations of Brooklyn childhoods.
