Description

A square designed like a fairground from days gone by

Anton Pieckplein brings together small rides, antique facades, and the music of a barrel organ in a setting that looks as if it stepped right out of an illustration. Signboards, irregular windows, and weathered colors create a lively square filled with modest details that invite the eye to linger.

Carousels and swings spin on an intimate scale, right alongside the cobblestones and terraces. Their gentle motion, the breath of the organ, and the old-fashioned melodies recreate the atmosphere of a traditional fair without breaking the spell of the neighboring fairy-tale world. Here, the charm lies as much in the setting as in the rides themselves.

Anton Pieck’s world brought to life

The square translates the tilted lines, slender silhouettes, and warm nostalgia that shaped Efteling’s visual identity into a three-dimensional space. It does not aim for historical accuracy; instead, it invents an imaginary past—one that feels both familiar and slightly theatrical. This atmosphere makes it one of the places where the park’s artistic origins remain most immediately palpable.
