Python
Description
The great steel silhouette of Ruigrijk
Python draws almost its entire form across the sky of Ruigrijk. Its slow ascent, pale loops and descents visible from the paths announce a direct adventure without a long preceding legend. The spectacle therefore begins before boarding, as the trains cross the landscape and their rumble draws every eye.
On board, the park briefly opens out before tipping into a lively sequence carried by air and closeness to the ground. This clarity is part of its character: the shapes seen from outside suddenly become a lived experience, then return to their place in the great familiar silhouette.
A historic emblem, continually renewed
Opened in 1981, Python marked the arrival of major thrill attractions at Efteling. A profound reconstruction completed in 2018 renewed the installation while preserving the overall image known to several generations. Today’s Python therefore continues a shared memory without claiming that every element still belongs to its first era.
