Gondoletta

A tranquil voyage through the gardens

The Gondoletta boats glide on a large lake surrounded by trees, flowerbeds and wide lawns. The regular movement follows the curves of the bank without imposed narration, letting the landscape occupy the entire scene. The birds, the reflections and the distant views give the crossing an almost contemplative quality.

From the water, Efteling presents itself differently. Attractions appear between the foliage, paths recede and buildings are reflected on the surface. The boat turns slowly, which constantly renews the framing and makes the lake a real space to explore rather than a simple setting between the kingdoms.

The landscape as an attraction in its own right

Gondoletta is based neither on a famous tale nor on a spectacular effect. Its personality comes from the care given to the gardens and the feeling of being momentarily separated from the paths. It recalls the historic place of nature in Efteling and shows that a very gentle journey can become memorable when water, vegetation and perspectives are precisely composed.
