Volk van Laaf
Description
An entire village inhabited by the Laven
The Volk van Laaf occupies a set of leaning houses, gardens and workshops where the Laven carry out their daily activities. These inventive little inhabitants work, eat, teach and rest in a world governed by their own habits. The scenes are discovered from paths, windows and passages between buildings.
Humor is born from objects, proportions and behaviors. A complicated machine can meet a very simple need, while a facade seems to have grown crooked around its occupants. The Monorail flies over the whole and reveals other details, giving the village several levels of reading.
An imaginary society rather than a single attraction
The Laven people are not locked in a room nor reduced to a single route. Its territory can be crossed freely and has architecture, professions and collective life. This design makes the village one of the most original universes of Efteling: a landscape work where the story is composed in fragments, to the rhythm of the gaze.
