An inclusive playground within the Ruigrijk landscape

Nest! features walkways, nets, slides, and balancing elements set against a backdrop inspired by a giant nest. The space was designed so that children of varying abilities can share the same adventure. Access points, play features, and gathering spots aim to offer multiple ways to participate rather than imposing a single, fixed route.

Wood, rope, and bird-like forms connect the playground to nature while preserving the spirited energy of Ruigrijk. The structures offer various heights and levels of engagement, with zones for climbing, observing, or playing together. This diversity makes the space intuitive to explore without reducing it to a mere series of obstacles.

Inclusion woven into the site’s narrative

The focus on inclusion is evident in the pathways, play features, and opportunities for interaction within the giant nest. It never disrupts the story with a clinical explanation; instead, it simply multiplies the ways to explore the space. In doing so, Nest! reinforces a key concept for Efteling: accessibility can fuel the imagination and enrich the adventure for all children.
