De Vliegende Hollander begins in a Golden Age port gripped by fear. Warehouses, alleys, ropes and taverns surround the legend of Captain Willem van der Decken, condemned to sail forever. From the first steps, water, dark timber and distant voices make the presence of the cursed ship palpable.

The vessel ventures among apparitions and confined passages before the escape suddenly gathers force in the darkness. When the sky returns, the lake becomes the curse’s final theatre. This passage from the harbour’s intimate unease to the open air gives the adventure a rare dramatic progression.
