Description

Sindbad’s ships surprised by the storm

Sirocco turns a square in Reizenrijk into a harbour caught by a sudden wind. Around Sindbad, ships, sails, cargo and façades seem drawn into an increasingly unruly dance. Music and colour give this squall a cheerful energy shared by every crew.

Eyes meet while the vessels appear to struggle against invisible gusts. One boat approaches, moves away and returns in the whirl, like a small fleet unable to hold its course. The proximity of Archipel and Vogel Rok extends the feeling of a stopover in the heart of Sindbad’s voyages.

A complete metamorphosis of Monsieur Cannibale

Sirocco replaced the dated imagery of Monsieur Cannibale with a genuine maritime tale. Efteling reinvented the ships, central character, music and entire landscape to build a coherent and respectful adventure. The transformation is deep enough for the dance to feel as though it had always belonged to this harbour.
