Atlas Resort

A small resort amusement park near Addis Ababa

Atlas Resort is a family leisure destination in Gelan, Oromia, southeast of Addis Ababa. Public reporting described the resort as adding an amusement park to its premises, with imported rides for both children and adults and a layout intended to give local families an outdoor recreation option.

The site is not a large international theme park. Its value comes from a more practical combination: small amusement rides, a kiddie powered coaster, carousels, flying-chair style rides, playground equipment, hotel services, a swimming pool, meeting rooms, a bar and parking. It therefore works more like a resort with an amusement area than like a destination built around one headline coaster.

How to understand the visit

The most documented ride is Train, a compact steel powered caterpillar coaster. Around it, reporting mentions a children’s train ride, carousels, flying chairs, rotary rides and thrill rides among the amusement equipment. Because the public naming of each individual ride is limited, the visitor experience should be approached as a local family entertainment area rather than as a heavily branded theme park.
