Description

Large colourful sombreros begin circling around the centre of Tornado, while every gondola adds its own motion to the wider rotation. The result feels like an organised storm: passengers repeatedly change orientation, move closer to the heart of the ride and sweep outward again through a succession of swings and turns.

The experience remains playful, but the combination of movements quickly removes stable reference points. Other sombreros pass through view, the Mexican scenery returns and disappears, and the gondola seems to choose the next direction of travel for itself.

The story of a tornado arriving from Arizona receives a very visual interpretation here. Tornado brings Le Désert du Nouveau-Mexique to life like a celebration caught in the wind, combining bright colours, a broad collective motion and a livelier ride than the cheerful shape of the vehicles might suggest.
