Kinderstad Heerlen is an indoor amusement park beside Heerlen railway station. Since 2000, its large hall has brought family rides, roller coasters, a water ride and active play structures under one roof. The imaginary mayor Max Majoor gives this colourful world a recognisable character centred on children.
The mix is unusually broad for an indoor venue. Freefall and Top Dancer provide sharper movement, while the two carousels and small bumper cars serve younger riders.
Much of Kinderstad is built around self-directed movement. Softplay combines nets, obstacles and several slides; Vulkaan rewards a climb with a yellow descent; trampolines, the inflatable and the wide mat slide keep children moving in different ways. These spaces make the venue feel like a playful town rather than only a hall of rides.
Everything takes place indoors, including the rest areas and cafeteria. The park opens every day, public holidays included, from 10:00 to 18:00. Height and accompaniment rules differ by attraction and are recorded on the individual listings.
Founded by the Van der Honing family, Kinderstad grew through successive additions while keeping a regional scale. Its identity comes from the straightforward combination of first thrills, physical play and family hospitality, available throughout the year whatever the Limburg weather brings.
