Funnyland, a circus heritage rooted in Les Sablettes

Four generations of the Calmarini family turned a travelling tradition into a permanent family park by the Mediterranean

Between striped tents, children’s rides and illuminated evenings, Funnyland preserves its show-business memory while belonging fully to the landscape of Les Sablettes.

A story born beneath the big top

Funnyland extends a family story that began long before the park’s first lights. The official website describes the Calmarinis as four generations from the circus world, a heritage still visible in the striped tents, costumed performers and taste for shows everyone can enjoy. At Les Sablettes, this performance culture has not become a frozen theme. It gives the place its direct, colourful and familiar tone: a celebration renewed on every opening day while retaining the closeness of a business passed from one generation to the next.

A permanent park in the Les Sablettes landscape

Its lasting home in Parc paysager Fernand-Braudel dates back roughly three decades. This permanence distinguishes Funnyland from travelling fairs that its visual style may sometimes recall: the rides belong to one established site facing the Mediterranean, with its own address, map and calendar. The whole remains deliberately compact. Crazy Chenille runs along one edge, Les Soucoupes occupy the centre and Funny Tower rises above the tents, while games, food outlets and the birthday area complete the visit without turning the park into a vast resort.

Crazy Chenille and a collection made for children

Crazy Chenille’s arrival in 2010 gave the park an instantly recognisable outline and added a family coaster to a collection mainly designed for young children. Around it, the carousel, cars, flying saucers, tower, slide, trampolines and games offer short experiences chosen with tokens or included in the day pass. This flexible model, free admission and summer evenings that continue late into the night create an unusual bond with the seaside resort: Funnyland can be an outing in its own right, yet also a familiar presence lighting up beside the Les Sablettes promenade.
