Cá Hải tượng

An Amazonian giant that rises to breathe

Cá Hải tượng is one of the most imposing shapes in the freshwater section. Its very long body, covered with large scales, moves through the tank with slow but powerful strokes. The head often remains close to the surface, making the fish’s heavy outline and dark reflections especially easy to observe.

The arapaima regularly rises for air, suddenly breaking the calm of its swim before descending again. This behaviour gives the encounter a clear rhythm and rewards visitors who remain by the tank for a little longer. Its size and movement make it one of the Aquarium’s strongest evocations of tropical rivers.
