The pavilion where water becomes the stage

Thủy đình is the water-puppet theatre within the Traditional Craft Village. Its pool occupies the front of the performance area, while the pavilion and scenery recall Vietnamese rural architecture. The setting immediately prepares visitors for a form of theatre in which characters appear directly on the surface of the water.

The venue matters as much as the puppets themselves. Reflections, splashes and movement across the pool add depth to the scenes, while the puppeteers remain hidden behind the structure. Thủy đình therefore provides a cultural setting that fits naturally within the surrounding craft village.
