Chesapeake
Maryland’s wooded relief
Chesapeake occupied a broad slope between the central neighborhoods and SteamTown. Its identity came less from a decorated street than from the meeting of trees, timber, water and large movements visible across the property.
Roar spread its wooden mass along the edge, Firebird twisted orange steel above the paths and Shipwreck Falls created a broad water descent. High Seas, Pirate’s Flight and dining buildings completed a landscape that felt more open than Gotham City or Mardi Gras.
A material portrait of the park
Chesapeake brought together the wood, metal and water that characterized Six Flags America. It therefore preserves the image of a regional park shaped as much by Maryland’s trees and topography as by licensed themes.
