About this park
A lost French theme park with a lasting reputation
Mirapolis was a large theme park in Courdimanche, Val-d’Oise, near Cergy-Pontoise. Opened to the public in 1987 and closed after the 1991 season, it remains one of the most striking French leisure projects of the late 1980s.
The park drew on French tales, legends, fables and popular characters. Its best-known symbol was Gargantua, a huge hollow statue that contained an indoor ride, dining spaces and shops. Around the lake, Mirapolis also offered roller coasters, water rides, shows, restaurants, family rides and several themed districts.
The site no longer operates as an amusement park, but its history still matters to people interested in lost parks, leisure heritage and the development of new towns around Paris. The coordinates point to the former general location of the park, whose remains and access roads have changed over time.
