About this park
A quarry park with a very strong Texas identity
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is one of the most visually distinctive Six Flags parks in the United States. Located in San Antonio, it uses the walls of a former limestone quarry as a dramatic backdrop for roller coasters, water rides, live entertainment and themed areas inspired by Texas culture, German heritage, 1950s Americana, coastal boardwalks and DC Comics.
The park opened in 1992 as Fiesta Texas and became part of the Six Flags family during the 1990s. Its layout feels different from a flat regional park because several major attractions interact with the quarry wall: some rides climb along the rock face, dive back into the landscape or use the natural setting as part of the spectacle. This makes the park especially memorable for guests who enjoy both coasters and atmosphere.
What to expect during a visit
The attraction mix is broad. Thrill seekers can focus on major coasters such as Iron Rattler, Superman Krypton Coaster, Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster and Poltergeist. Families will find junior coasters, Looney Tunes rides, the Fiesta Texas Railroad, gentler flat rides and shaded breaks. In warm weather, Hurricane Harbor San Antonio adds wave pools, slides and water-play areas inside the same destination.
Entertainment, food and themed areas
Fiesta Texas has long been known for shows and seasonal entertainment. The themed areas give the visit a clear rhythm: Los Festivales near the entrance, Crackaxle Canyon along the quarry, Spassburg’s German village atmosphere, Rockville’s retro streets, Fiesta Bay Boardwalk and the DC Universe area. Restaurants, snack stands and shops are spread through these zones, making the park feel like a full-day destination rather than a coaster-only stop.
