About this park
A major Six Flags park near Atlanta
Six Flags Over Georgia is a large regional theme park in Austell, just west of Atlanta. Opened in 1967, it is one of the historic pillars of the Six Flags chain and remains one of Georgia’s best-known amusement destinations.
The park mixes large roller coasters, classic family attractions, Looney Tunes areas, DC-themed rides, live entertainment, dining, shops and the Hurricane Harbor water area inside the grounds. Its layout moves through several themed neighborhoods, from older Southern and frontier-inspired sections to superhero areas and newer thrill zones.
What visitors find in the park
The coaster collection is one of the main reasons to visit. Goliath, Twisted Cyclone, Superman - Ultimate Flight, Batman The Ride, Georgia Scorcher, Dare Devil Dive and The Great American Scream Machine give the park a broad mix of airtime, inversions, flying position, stand-up riding and classic wooden coaster character.
Families can also plan a full day without focusing only on the biggest thrills. Monster Mansion, Dahlonega Mine Train, Riverview Carousel, Hanson Cars, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, Bugs Bunny Boomtown and Hurricane Harbor help balance the visit for younger guests and mixed groups.
A long-running Southern park
Because the park has operated for decades, it also carries an important historical layer. Several attractions preserve the feel of older regional parks, while newer investments such as Georgia Gold Rusher show that Six Flags Over Georgia continues to evolve.
