The Los Piratas fort rises inside the park
During the summer, visitors can see construction of the 1991 attraction, still presented under the working name Los Piratos. Mack Rides supplies the boat system while Space Leisure develops the architecture, scenes and animated characters.

Los Piratas opens the gates of its fort
The boat ride carries visitors through a Spanish fort populated by pirates and around fifty animated figures. The major investment becomes one of the most ambitious experiences ever created at Bellewaerde.

The pirate scenes are dismantled
After closure, scenery, characters and equipment are gradually removed from the ride. Several elements are nevertheless retained by the park and reused during seasonal events.

Los Piratas carries its final passengers
After twenty-one seasons, the boats pass through the fort’s scenes one final time. The closure ends an attraction that had become emblematic for several generations of visitors.

The Los Piratas fort becomes Huracan’s temple
The building does not disappear with the ride: it is completely converted to house the Huracan roller coaster. The former fort architecture now frames a Maya temple.
