The animal expansion of 1974 introduces giraffes among the site’s largest and most visible species. Their arrival accompanies zebras, antelopes, flamingos and other animals that give the safari a new scale.
The Savanne inaugurated in July 2008 gives the giraffes a broad landscape shared with other herbivores. Visitors can now observe them from ground level and elevated viewpoints.
New walkways and viewpoints reshape the animal trail. The transformation accompanies the arrival of Grévy’s zebras and renews the way visitors discover the giraffes in the park’s African landscape.
A Rothschild’s giraffe calf is born on 1 April 2024. Park followers later choose the name Mosi for the young animal, whose birth draws attention to a rare subspecies long presented at Bellewaerde.
