Description

A colourful climber with a strong voice

The red ruffed lemur brings colour, movement and character to Bellewaerde’s Savanne. With its black and reddish coat, white neck markings and agile climbing, it is a species that rewards visitors who look up and take time to observe the trees and elevated spaces.

This animal encounter has a different rhythm from the giraffes and zebras nearby. Instead of wide, open movement, the appeal is in agility, sounds and small interactions. Families can pause, listen and watch for movement above them, making the Savanne feel richer and more layered than it first appears.

Why visitors will like it

  • A visually distinctive animal with warm colours and expressive behaviour.
  • A good reason to look up and observe the habitat more carefully.
  • A lively yet natural encounter that adds depth to the Savanne walk.
