Duinrell occupies a historic family estate in Wassenaar, between The Hague and the North Sea coast. Since 1935, woodland, dune contours and recreation have grown together without erasing the character of the grounds. That continuity gives the resort its distinctive appearance: rides emerge among mature trees, while holiday accommodation and camping extend the experience beyond the amusement parkʼs opening hours.
Today the destination combines more than forty amusement-park experiences with the indoor and outdoor Tiki Pool. Falcon brings the most forceful rhythm, Dragonfly threads through the trees as a family coaster, and the Kikker8baan opened in 2026 gives a new life to Duinrellʼs familiar frog-coaster tradition. Historic rides, small-scale games and stories around Rick and Lelie remain visible beside these recent additions.
The amusement park moves between roller coasters, flat rides, games, shows and spaces designed for younger children. Tiki Pool changes the setting without leaving the resort: fast slides, raft adventures, a wave pool, play areas and quieter bathing spaces form a complete water destination. Many experiences draw on movement or water, yet each retains a clear personality and an atmosphere of its own.
The estate opened to the public in 1935 under the Van Zuylen van Nijevelt family. The Netherlandsʼ first ski slope followed in 1938, camping arrived in 1959, and recreation expanded more rapidly from the 1960s. Tiki Pool opened in 1984 and Duinrellʼs first full-scale roller coaster followed a year later, moving the destination into a new era while family ownership continued.
Recent developments follow the same gradual approach. De Oude Lijnbaan reinterprets a piece of estate heritage, Tobbedanser renews the adventure in the dunes, and the 2026 additions combine memory with fresh movement. Duinrell therefore remains recognisable through its unusual blend of nature, holidays and attractions: a resort where the history of the land matters as much as the experiences built upon it.
