From Hubseilturm to Fürstenwalzer

A small summit reached by arm power

Hubseilturm opens in 1997 in the upper part of the park. Several gondolas surround a vertical tower and visitors use ropes to pull themselves upwards. When the effort stops, the gondola descends gently. The ride therefore turns a simple ascent into a shared game: some groups try to reach the top quickly, while others progress more slowly. This direct participation gives it a different personality from fully automated towers. In 2025, a major failure requires the ride to be taken out of service. The small footprint, surrounded by other attractions, greatly limits the replacement options.

Control moves from ropes to rotation

The chosen replacement is a Sunkid Sundancer, opened as Fürstenwalzer at Pentecost 2026. A gondola follows a circular path while rotating around its own axis; as it accelerates, it swings farther outwards. Riders can influence the direction and pace of this rotation. Participation therefore does not disappear with Hubseilturm, but takes a different form. Bavarian royal scenery connects Fürstenwalzer with Königsflug, Burg Fellbach and the other rides in the area. On almost the same footprint, Bayern-Park replaces a slow vertical ascent with a broader and more visible horizontal movement.
