The red escape of the rascal Max

Max crosses an Alpine village thrown into confusion by the pranks of Wilhelm Busch’s two heroes. Façades, makeshift inventions and repurposed objects reveal a mess in which the boy always seems one step ahead. The colour red and lively music give his adventure an impulsive, cheerful and instantly readable temperament.

The village flashes past like a prank that has escaped its authors. Moritz sometimes appears nearby, a reminder that the mischief is made for two even when each leads his own escapade. Residents, workshops and traces of the tale turn the journey’s energy into a small family comedy.

One turbulent half of a shared story

Max shares his world with Moritz, but his appearances and viewpoints give the red branch a character of its own. Together, the two rascals reinvented Bob’s former site without erasing all of its Alpine memory. The adventure therefore retains a link with the place while telling an entirely new story.
